In order to achieve 3 dimensional machining for any object, you must have a 3 axis CNC machine. With the 3 axis machine, you can get more precise cuts and intricate angles. The machine is much more accurate than the 2.5 axis machine of course, because there is the greater ability of movement. Having 3 axes of course makes it much harder for programming. The capabilities of this machine however, are virtually limitless when it comes to exactly what can be done with it.
Like any other product, there are multiple companies which manufacture and sell the 3 axis machine. The one (or more) that your company ends up purchasing will depend entirely upon your needs, because just like other equipment you might buy there will be differences between each and every machine, except in the fact that the end result will be the same. In this case you need to shop around not only for the best possible prices, but for the features as well. One consideration that you would want to look at is the type of software that will work properly with the machine. You'll also need to consider the amount of space the equipment will occupy. Simply put, if you only have a set amount of space available, buying something larger will present problems.
The machine itself is going to be a significant investment and it makes no sense to invest in one of them if it's only going to be used occasionally which brings up another question - exactly why do you need a 3 axis machine? Is it possible that a 2.5 axis machine would work with some software adjustments or even a new computer program altogether?
To be sure, the output by this fantastic creation is untouched by any other machine. The requirement of a highly skilled programmer who knows what they are doing is what will make or break the investment into this type of equipment. The technology is lost otherwise. The programmer must have the capability to program the machine properly to meet it's full capability or the investment is once again, lost.
The 3 axis machine, when properly programmed can cut out a replica of anything you can imagine, in such fine detail that it is uncanny. The machines are also designed for speed, and repetition meaning that you could literally turn out one part after another, each identical to the one previous. Setup the machine and move on to a different project and then turn around the next day and work on the previous project once again and have the same specifications.
Cutting and machining an object is tough for anyone, but it gets much easier, and tolerances can be well within 100 microns when it comes to fabricating multiple items of the same design. The aerospace industry has been using this technology for some time now to manufacture and fabricate just about everything that they need from parts to machine prototypes to actual working machines. This is the most advanced and accurate technology that is available today, and the machines, once programmed and setup, can more or less operate on its own until the project is completed.
