Cafe Retro

London's secrets.........?
Has anybody found any amazing shops in London, those one-off places on the corner? Vintage, retro, jewellery, book shops, Beatles records? Or any cafes/restaurants that do gluten-free food? How about any interesting areas?
Basically, if you love something special in London - TELL ME!
If you go to Seven Dials, which is part of Covent Garden area, there are lots of great shops, all one-offs. It's a long time since I was there, but I remember a doublefronted shop called Mysteries that sold all new agey stuff, a huge shop that had nothing but buttons of different kinds on 2 floors, a kite shop... Of course, these may be gone, but there's bound to be quite a few interesting ones. You don't go to Covent Garden underground station, it's easier to get there from Holborn - but you will need to ask directions. I used to come out the station on Kingsway, turn right to get onto High Holborn and then go to the left, follow the lefthand pavement and you should find it round a corner.
There used to be a vegetarian Indian cafe there, as well. Like I said, it might not still be there, but that area is full of little unusual shops.
