Brew the coffee and cinnamon and nutmeg together, whether in a percolator or a drip maker.
Add the brown sugar, vanilla and milk/cream.
They will also make the coffee double strength and then heat an equal amount of milk into which they add the sugar and vanilla and then mix the two.
Sometimes they also add chocolate syrup.
Like I said - there's lots of different recipes, and every family/locality has their favorites.
For a bit of a change, substitute apple pie spice for the cinnamon and nutmet, or add a bit of cardamon.
