2 out of 3 apartment phone jacks won't work. Who do i contact to fix them?
I have one phone jack in my kitchen, living room and bedroom. The only one that works is the one in the bedroom. When I try and plug in a phone into the other jacks, there's no dial tone. Whenever I plug the phone into the one in the bedroom, it works. Who do I contact to come fix the phone jacks?
To follow up on Pam's answer, if those jacks existed in the apartment when you first moved in, you have the right to expect every fixture (something attached to a wall, ceiling, or floor) to be working as expected. The landlord in California does need to ensure that every apartment has a phone jack to which a working line can be connected, but that doesn't absolve him of maintaining everything in the apartment that you don't bring in and install yourself. Lights need to work, faucets need to dispense water, and phone jacks need to deliver dial tone when your service is connected.
