Does a Reverse Osmosis sink filter make tap water from less developed countries safe to drink? Easyto install?
Here is what I am looking at:
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=129808-43353-WHER25&detail=cr&lpage=none
In the Dominican Republic, the tap water seems generally clean, it often has A LOT of chlorine it seems. well sometimes. At first the water may seem less clean, as the water only comes on 2 or 3 times a week in the evening or at night, but once you run the water for a bit, there is no sand (you only have a tiny bit sometimes), or anything and it gets clear. So, would this filter make that tap water drinkable?
Is it easy to install in the kitchen sink? and remove etc? (Or does it need "professional installation?)
*Also, would it be cost effective? (a 5 GALLON bottle costs just under one U.S Dollar (About 90 cents probably), but it is far away, and difficult to load on a motorcycle and up and down the hills.
SO would this be worth it?
basically what reverse osmosis does is filter the water from every thing else....by the time water is comes out from the "reverse osmosis" apparatus, you will have pure H2O and all the impurities and even all the minerals will be sucked out....it is not good drinking pure H2O because it will take away minerals from your body...if there is a lot of chlorine then the water should be well disenfected, if it is that way then i suggest you get a good filter..not reverse osmosis....just a good filter
