So the other day I realized that I am actually really dehydrated. I use to drink tons of water, but I stopped because I dropped my water bottle and broke it. I am always thirsty in class, but few teachers will excuse you for a drink of water and I also really hate drinking from fountains. Today I bought a new metal water bottle and decided to drink a lot more water. Back when I drank more water I had better skin, more energy, less appetite, etc.
Its a 24 oz. bottle, so I decided that if I drank 3 bottles a day I would be getting more than enough. That's 72 oz. though. Can you drink too much water? Would it hurt my kidneys or liver or anything, or help them?
Plus I usually have 16 oz. of coffee in the morning and 8 oz of juice or milk at lunch (plus a salad for lunch usually)
Is that too much?

Yes you can drink too much water, but it takes a lot.
The problem occurs when you drink so much water that it dilutes the salt in your blood, it can cause seizures and even death. But it takes A LOT! You could drink a gallon a day with no problems most likely. And everything varies with amount of exercise, what you eat, etc.
Oh, and the whole "8 glasses a day" thing isn't accurate. It would vary from person to person because we are all very different, in physiology and activity level. Where it came from was a study that said the average person should ingest that much per day, where the mix up happened was most of it is in food, not just glasses of water.
